New QExtra Technology Improves Quantum Efficiency and Reduces Etaloning Effects2013-03-15
QExtra Technology is an anti-reflective multi-layer coating designed to greatly improve quantum efficiency of back illuminated CCDs (BIDDs) over a broad spectral range, while suppressing undesirable etaloning effects.
QExtra Technology provides outstanding low light detection capabilities from 300 nm to 1000 nm with quantum efficiency higher than 90%, predominantly advantageous for spectroscopy experiments where UV and NIR region are of importance. Additionally, QExtra technology significantly suppresses etaloning effects noticeable in the NIR region above 750 nm in back thinned silicon scientific cameras.
“The improvement in quantum efficiency offered by QExtra Technology over basic back-illuminated deep depleted cameras will make a significant difference for experiment requiring high quantum efficiency over a broad spectral range,” said Eric Teboul, Director of Optical Spectroscopy Division. “The increase in sensitivity offered by QExtra CCD technology combined with the outstanding performances of our scientific cameras, makes HORIBA Scientific BIDDs the ideal scientific cameras for low light luminescence, fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy measurements.”
The new QExtra Technology is available with HORIBA Scientific’s low-noise, liquid-nitrogen-cooled (down to –130°C) Symphony® II CCD cameras and our thermoelectrically cooled (–95°C) Synapse® CCD cameras.
